Hi, i am trying to find out the location of a place in Burma called Moregumito? This is the village or place where Lance Corporal John William Brock was captured by the Japanese on 18th April 1943.That is the same day that my grandfather Arthur Leslie Howney went missing on the same operation Longcloth! Can anyone tell me where in Burma this was during the war?

I'm trying to find any information on my Grandad Ernest Oakley (Ernie) who was part of the Chindits. Unfortunately i never got to meet him, so I would be grateful for any information, and I think it would make my Dad's day. Thank you

Let me add my appreciation of this wonderful site.

I note that there are many questions here regarding the wartime service of a relative.
Help may be found from the Ministry of Defence. I cannot post their website address here, so search the web for Ministry of Defence.

Thanks very much Ian, i am a bit further on than the info. on that site. I am trying to find which actual column he may have been in? On his war service record it says 2nd Echelon India Cable, this is entered next to where he was reported missing on 18/04/1943. Thanks again for your help.

Great website. Been researching my grandfather who served in the 13th Kings Liverpool, these fellows made up the bulk of the 1943 Chindit expedition. Having trouble finding which Chindit unit he may have been in?

Just dropped by as haven't been here for a while. Found it interesting re-reading about the Chindits, and the questionnaire / piece that Grandpa wrote about his time with the Chindits. I can't even imagine what it would have been like. Keep up the good work Dad :)
