Just dropped by as haven't been here for a while. Found it interesting re-reading about the Chindits, and the questionnaire / piece that Grandpa wrote about his time with the Chindits. I can't even imagine what it would have been like. Keep up the good work Dad :)

I have found reference to a Pte 5260423 W Horne in the 7th Leicestershire Regiment (The Chindits). My father told my brother that he was in communications in India/Burma during the war but would never speak of what he did. I would like to confirm whether or not this is my father. He was born 16.12.13 and came from the East End of London. According to my mother he was originally conscripted into the Royal Fusiliers. Can anyone help? What a fantastic website!!

I recently found a photograph of my father H.L.North. It also contained 3 other soldiers. There were signatures on the back. They were E Crisp from Belgrave, Pte.s.Wright from Loughborough and T. Draycott from sileby. Can Any one tell me information about these people and if any of them are still alive. Also if they have any stories about my Dad. Thanks Sharon

Hi. Just found your site after some research about my father, Tom Gamble 4802735 ( no. 151 on the Column 2 list ) It is a superbly put together site and you should be thanked for your efforts. So many things like the pay book and the fact that he never sent for his medals until I - as a serving soldier - prompted him, are so alike. It brings back many memories of my father who sadly died in 1994. Well done. If anyone has any info about my father I would be very grateful to hear from you. Good luck to all.
